Two-time Academy Award® winner Sean Penn (Milk, Mystic River) will direct Flag Day, in which he will star alongside his daughter Dylan Penn (Condemned, Elvis & Nixon). Principal photography began this week.
Also joining the Flag Day cast are Academy Award® nominee Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men, Milk, Avengers franchise), two-time Tony Award® winner Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon”, Fair Game), Dale Dickey (Hell or High Water, The Pledge), Eddie Marsan (Happy-Go-Lucky, 21 Grams), Bailey Noble (True Blood), Hopper Penn (War Machine), Miles Teller (Whiplash, Too Old To Die Young), and Katheryn Winnick (Vikings, The Dark Tower). Tony Award® winning wright Jez Butterworth (Edge of Tomorrow, Black Mass, Broadway’s The Ferryman) penned the screenplay, which is based on Jennifer Vogel’s 2005 memoir “Flim-Flam Man: The True Story of My Father’s Counterfeit Life.}

With an Academy Award® nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Milk, Josh Brolin has starred in such acclaimed films as American Gangster, No Country for Old Men, True Grit, and Deadpool 2. He most recently starred in Marvel’s The Avengers franchise and will next feature in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Two-time Tony Award® winner Butz’s film credits include Dan in Real Life, Fair Game, Higher Ground and Disconnect. He is currently starring in the acclaimed TV series Fosse/Verdon and his previous roles include Bloodline”, Mercy Street and The Last Tycoon series, created by Billy Ray and based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s final unfinished novel.
William Horberg (The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Kite Runner), Jon Kilik (At Eternity’s Gate, Babel) and Fernando Sulichin (Snowden, Spring Breakers, At Eternity’s Gate) will produce Flag Day, a Wonderful Films, Rahway Road, New Element Films and Clyde Is Hungry Films production. Rocket Science and Wild Bunch will executive produce and are handling international sales, with CAA Media Finance, which arranged financing for the film, representing the U.S. and China rights. Executive Producers are Christelle Conan, Anders Erdén, Peter Touche, Phyllis Laing, Devan Towers, Thorsten Schumacher, Vincent Maraval, John Wildermuth, Sidney Kimmel and Allen Liu.
